Abstract

1,084,304. Vibratory mechanisms. W. BARKER. Aug. 20,1965 [Sept. 1, 1964], No.35683/64. Heading F2X. A reciprocatory screen, conveyer 10 or the like has a driving mechanism which includes at least two pairs 13, 14 of unbalanced rotatable masses arranged so that the two masses of each pair rotate in opposite directions at the same speed and at least one pair of masses rotate at a speed different from the other pair or pairs of masses. The conveyer is supported by hangers 12 and the two masses of each pair are laterally spaced while the two pairs are connected by gearing 18, 20, 21 so that the pair 14 has twice the speed of the pair 13, a single electric motor 15 being connected to the gearing through a worm gear 16. The phase relationship between the masses may be adjusted to alter the characteristics of the vibrations which are non- uniform so that the force applied to the material on the conveyer is greater in one direction than in the other. The material may also be made to circulate during advancement.
