108,372. Caven, R. M. Aug. 21, 1916. Alkali silicates.-A solid hydrated soluble neutral alkali silicate is produced by mixing pulverized neutral silicate with from 25 to 38, or, according to the Provisional Specification, about 20 per cent. of its weight of water and heating the mixture under atmospheric pressure to a temperature above 70‹ C. and preferably below 100‹ C., but when the higher proportion of water is used, the temperature may exceed 100‹ C. Specification 9730/98 is referred to.
