Abstract

To the pressed chip bodies of the parent Specification, a layer of absorbent material adaptable to the contours of the moulding is applied to the still liquid thermosetting plastic or mixture. The parent Specification describes applying a liquid thermosetting plastic to a pre-pressed moulding of fibrous material and binder, and pressing under heat, the binder containing a substance, e.g. ammonia or ammonium chloride, which causes a partial condensation of the thermosetting plastic when this is applied, thus forming a barrier layer preventing penetration of the thermosetting plastic into the pores of the pre-pressed body. The absorbent material may be tissue-paper or woven textile fabric, and may be coloured. A thermosetting plastic mixture exemplified comprises an OH-group-containing polyester resin.
