Abstract

A photographic stripping film comprises, in order, a polyester support, a stripping layer, a hydrophobic flexible membrane, an optional subbing layer, an optional intermediate layer or layers and one or more light-sensitive emulsion layers, the stripping layer consisting of a major proportion of a poly (alkyl acrylate) or a copolymer of alkyl acrylate with smaller amounts of one or more other unsaturated compounds such as halogenalkyl vinyl ethers, e.g. #-chloroethyl vinyl ether, alkyl methacrylates, styrene or maleates, the alkyl groups of the alkyl acrylate containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms. In addition to the alkyl acrylate polymer, the stripping layer may also contain minor amounts of stabilizing agents, antioxidants, resins and rubbers. The polyester support may be of polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonates or polyesters of dicarboxylic acids and bisphenols. The flexible membrane may be of a cellulose ester, e.g. nitrate, diacetate, triacetate, propionate, acetobutyrate or acetopropionate, a mixture of ethyl cellulose and cellulose nitrate, polyamides, polycarbonates, polyesters, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl esters and polyvinyl acetals.
