Abstract
Shirts, blouses or jackets are made from stock pieces including separate torso and sleeve pieces, the torso piece comprising a back panel, front panel(s) and collar secured together only at neck and shoulders, the panels being the upper size limit to be made in girth and having no armhole shaping, and the sleeve pieces being the upper size limit in length and girth and having no longitudinal seam. To make up a shirt &c., a torso piece is fitted on a customer, cut to size at sides and armhole and seamed at the sides. Sleeve pieces, cut to size and seamed longitudinally are sewn into the armholes. The range of torso stock pieces need only differ therefore in the style and size of collar; similarly a range of sleeve pieces of different cuff sizes may be provided. Both stock pieces may have buttonholes &c. pre-formed in them.
