Abstract
In a method of making a chromium article, chromium, a chromium base alloy or chromium and a refractory material, e.g. ceramic, are electrolytically deposited on to a suitable cathode to form the article and the eletro-deposited material is heated to a temperature of at least 1600 DEG C. e.g. for at least 4 hours in a reducing or inert atmosphere, e.g. hydrogen, which heat-treatment may effect removal of oxygen therefrom. The cathode may be formed of copper or copper alloy and may be dissolved with nitric acid prior to said heat-treatment. The article may be subjected to a mechanical finishing operation at a temperature above 250 DEG C.
