Abstract

1,080,851. Vacuum cleaners. GOBLIN (B.V.C.) Ltd. July 27, 1966 [Jan. 3, 1966], No. 71/66. Heading A4F. A vacuum cleaner in which a motor driven fan 43, 44 in a housing 1 draws dust laden working air through an inlet 8 at one end of the housing into a replaceable dust bag 13 and discharges the cleaned working air through an outlet 10 at the other end of the housing is characterized in that the motor 25 is sealed against ingress of working air and is operatively connected to a second fan 30 arranged to draw a stream of cooling air separate from the working air through an inlet 9 of the housing and to propel the cooling air through or over the motor 25 to one or more outlets (32) (Fig. 2, not shown) in side walls of the housing. The motor 25 is arranged in a casing 19 into which cooling air is drawn by the fan 30 and around which the working air is directed by the fans 43, 44 to the outlet 10. The dust bag 13 is releasably attached to the inlet 8 and is arranged within a fabric bag 38 in the housing 1 which is provided with a filter 23 at the outlet 10, with wheels 2 for transport purposes and with a handle 3 and operating switch 5.
