Abstract

Fastenings. - A seal comprises tubular locking-members adapted to interlock upon being brought into engagement, a flexible element connecting said tubular members, and means for preventing access to the interlocking parts. Fig. 2 shows such a seal having a flanged male member 5 connected by the metal strip 1 to the female member 2. The seal is shown closed in Fig. 3, the flange 6 engaging under the flared part 3, and the strip 1 preventing access to these interlocking parts. The shorter diameter of the elliptical hole 4 corresponds with the diameter of the member 5, and slits made in the strip 1 facilitate bending at the correctpoints. An additional locking member 17 may be provided on the strip 11, Fig. 6, its use being illustrated in Fig. 8. Other modifications are described. In forming the seal, the locking members are originally stamped of greater diameter than finally required, and are then successively shrunk in further stampings, so that they are composed of metal not greatly thinned by the stamping process. This method of forming the seal is illustrated in Figs. 24, 25, and 26.
