A vehicle has at each side a structural member 1 originating from adjacent the windscreen, the side sills 5 being connected to the members 1 by members 6 which carry extensions 7 for front suspension springs. The engine unit 8 has most of its weight disposed in front of the axle 12, thus the springs 10 take a minor proportion of the loads transmitted to the bodywork.
