Abstract

1,079,504. Roller blinds. SATCHELL PROPERTIES Ltd. Aug. 31, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 23876/63. Heading A4B. [Also in Division E1] An airspace is enclosed behind a window or door 18 thus forming or converting a single window or door into a double window or door by means of a polyethylene sheet 10 provided with edge enlargements or beadings 32 put on separately or formed by rolling or folding over the edges to enclose a cord, these edgings running in correspondingly shaped grooves 22 in resilient strips 12 secured at the sides of the window &c. and the bottom edge 32 being received in a similar groove in a resilient strip 14 secured at the bottom of the window &c. and the sheet being rolled off a storage roller 11 accommodated in a box 16 secured at the top of the air space and having in its lower side a slot 27 through which the sheet 10 passes. The sheet has at its upper portion an enlargement 26 to be housed in two opposite recessed resilient strips 19, 19a in the slot 27 when the sheet is fully drawn to provide an air-tight joint. The bottom of the blind has a grip 33 preferably integral with the bottom edge 32. The roller may be spring controlled and during rolling up an interleaving sheet may be used to compensate for the enlarged edges of the sheet 10 or the ends of the roller may be tapered off for that purpose.
