A spacer for reinforcements invertible to provide different spacing distances comprises, a cylindrical or frusto-conical shell 1 stiffened by a diametrical bridge piece 4, a diametrically opposed pair of recesses 2 in one end in line with the bridge piece 4 and a diametric- ally opposed pair of recesses 3 in the other end at right angles to the bridge piece 4. The edge 4A of the bridge piece is in line with the roots of the shallower recesses 2 and the other edge of the bridge piece has a recess 5 of the same depth as the deeper recesses 3. The spacer may be injection moulded in synthetic plastics material.
