Abstract
Stainless steel powder is coated with Mo, Cu or Ni by moistening it with an aqueous solution of a salt of the metal, evaporating the water, and reducing in hydrogen at e.g. 1000 to 1900 DEG F. The salts may be nitrates, sulphates, acetates, chlorides or bromides or ammonium molybdate. The resultant powder may be pressed and sintered in hydrogen.
