Abstract

1,077,081. Seats. H. R. TURNER (WILLENHALL) Ltd. March 11, 1964 [Sept. 7, 1963], No. 35409/63. Heading A4J. A vehicle seat has an angularly adjustable backrest comprising a U-shaped frame 13 to the ends 14 of which quadrants 15 are riveted by means of rivets 18, 19 and 20, 21. Quadrants 15 are pivoted at 24 to quadrants 16 which are welded to a seat frame 10. The backrest is urged to a forwardly inclined position by a U-shaped torsion spring 39 one free end of which is inserted in tube 1 and the other free end of which passes between rivets 18, 19 which anchor it. Arcuate toothed rocks 23 are riveted to quadrants 15 to engage toothed locking plate assemblies 25, 26 as described in Specifications 1,027,913 and 1,038,878.
