Abstract

1,060,922. Adjustable seats. AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd. Jan. 18, 1966 [Feb. 20, 1965], No. 7420/65. Heading A4J. [Also in Division E2] The rake of the back-rest of a vehicle seat is adjusted by the relative angular movement of toothed ring 1 and locking pawls 10. The pawls are resiliently urged into locking engagement with the ring 1 to prevent rotation in either direction. On turning pin 12 by means of handle 14, to lower the tail 10A or B of either pawl, the ring 1 may be rotated in the direction permitted by the other pawl. A torsion spring is provided to counterbalance the weight of the back-rest.
