1,076,182. Angular bending. W. H. KENNEDY. Feb. 27, 1964 [March 22, 1963], No. 11520/63. Heading B3E. A tube bending machine having a tube bending head comprises a curved former 8 and a co-operating tube bending member 7, e.g. a roller, carried on an operating bar 4 pivotally mounted on the axis of the radius of the former, in which the bar carries the member at one end, an operating handle at the other end and is pivoted at a point intermediate its ends. The head comprises a support 2 on which a pair of plates 3 each carrying a laterally located positioned former 8 having differing bending radii and the bar 4 are mounted. The head assembly is detachably mounted, on a member 12 of a fabricated stand 13 which may be foldable, and retained thereon by collars 14 and locking screw 15. One side of the former is coincident with the vertical axis of the pivot 5 and the inclination of the handle 6 relative to the bar axis is such that the bar is initially maintained in the vertical condition. In use a tube is laterally inserted into the machine and sup ported on a rock 10 and the handle pulled to bend it upwardly about the former. The former and roller peripheries are alternately grooved and the former relieved at its leading end. A grooved back former may be used, having a flat or grooved back face in conjunction with a cylindrical or convoxly curved roller.
