Abstract
1,075,972. Refrigerating. LA FLEUR CORPORATION. April 8, 1965, No. 14860/65. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] A gas-turbine plant working on a refrigeration cycle includes a compressor 18 coupled to turbines 19, 20 mounted within circumferentially unsplit outer casings 11, 12. The gas, which may be hydrogen or helium, leaving the compressor 18 passes along line 27 and is divided into two high-pressure streams, one to a power loop 121 and the other to a refrigeration loop 122. The gas in the refrigeration loop is cooled in an aftercooler 128 and then further cooled in a cold regenerator 129 before expanding through turbine 20 to provide some of the power for the compressor 18. The cooled gas passes through a coil 131 to absorb heat from the refrigerate, which may be air, in a coil 132, before returning by way of the cold regenerator 129 to the compressor 18. The turbine 19 forms part of the power loop and provides most of the power for the compressor. Heat is supplied to the power loop in a coil 124 forming part of a heat exchanger or mounted within a combustion chamber. A motor 16 rotates the rotary members of the plant at starting.
