Abstract

1,075,741. Mixing edible fats. HENRY SIMON Ltd. Feb. 15, 1965 [Feb. 28, 1964], No. 8340/64. Heading B1C. In a continuous process for working edible fats they are charged with colouring and flavouring into an apparatus wherein they are advanced by a screw 10 into a body portion consisting of interfitting apertured plates 3 and a consolidating discharge nozzle 4; there are helically bladed impellers 11 between the apertured plates 3, selected ones 15 of which have apertures adjustable as described in Specification 1,029,133 to regulate back-pressure so that materials flow through the apparatus at a rate equal to the input rate. Controlled amounts of water are admitted at three points 16 by ring manifolds 20 (see Fig. 2, not shown); in the product the water is finely divided to a globule size not exceeding 20 microns. The temperature may be regulated by a water-jacket.
