1,075,554. Laminates and laminating. MASCHINENFABRIK BRIEM-HENGLER & CRONEMEYER KOMM. GES. Aug. 16, 1965 [Oct. 29, 1964], No. 35019/65. Heading B5N. An embossed laminate comprising a plastics layer bonded to a woven or non-woven fabric layer is made by delivering a web 2 of plastics material substantially vertically, e.g. from an extrusion nozzle 1 to the horizontal nip between a heated roller 7, preferably covered with P.T.F.E. and a silicone-covered laterally adjustable pressure roller 11, delivering the fabric web 9 to the same nip, drawing off the laminate, after passing partly round the heated roller 7, by a roller 13, and delivering it to the nip of an embossing roller 14 and counter roller 15, the plastics layer, which contacts the embossing roller, being superficially heated, immediately before entry, by an I.R. unit 17. The extruder nozzle may be laterally adjustable, as at 3.
