Abstract

1,074,724. Jewellery. CORO Inc. Feb. 16, 1966 [March 15, 1965], No. 6718/66. Heading A3H [Also in Division E2] A clasp for connecting an article to a flexible element, particularly though not exclusively an article of jewellery to an ornamental chain, comprises a pair of members 20, 22 pivotally connected together at one end and movable from an open position to a closed position wherein a portion of the inner edges of said members are located in engagement, both said members having depressions 34, 36 formed in the inner edges that define an opening for receiving the flexible element when said members are located in the closed position thereof, friction grip means 40, 42 formed on the inner edges of said members for holding said members in engaging relation and means 58 joined to one of said members on the end opposite to the pivot connection thereof for interconnecting said clasp to said article. In the construction shown the friction grip means consists of a pair of spaced tongues 40 of the member 20 which frictionally engage opposite sides of a projection 42 joined to the inner edge of the member 22. In addition the member 22 is provided with a finger 48 and the member 20 is provided with an edge 54 which frictionally engages the surface of the finger 48. The member 20 is provided with a finger grip 56.
