In a bench seat the seat or the back comprises a frame 1 having elastic straps 2 stretched longitudinally thereon, and a transverse member 5 of foam material disposed at a mid position and providing support for the straps. The straps may be sewn to the transverse member or fixed to it by adhesion. The transverse member (5) is supported by a plate (4).
