Abstract

1,073,729. Grooming fabrics. D. A. MARTIN. Nov. 24, 1964 [Feb. 3, 1964], No. 47669/64. Heading B3D. [Also in Division D1] A device for grooming fabric, e.g. restoring the surface condition of matted or worn woven or knitted fabric of a garment, comprises a handle 13 connected to a holder consisting of a base member 14 and a web member 16 receiving a sheet 17 of abrasive material sandwiched therebetween, the web member having openings for exposing the abrasive face of the sheet, the openings being separated by substantially parallel bars 18. The handle 13 is hollow and is preferably moulded as a unit with the base member 14. The latter has an upper curved surface bounded on its longitudinal edges by non-parallel ridges. The web member 16 has its longitudinal edges similarly non-parallel and bevelled to mate with the ridges. The sheet 17 having been placed on the base member 14 the web member 16 is slid into position; adhesive may be applied to the edges of the web member to secure the parts together.
