Abstract

107,330. Jantzen, N. Nov. 14, 1916. Rudders; stopping way.-Rudder blades 12 of the shape shown are fitted at the stem and stern of a vessel and when placed at right-angles to its centre line act as brakes for stopping way. Each blade 12 is readily removable, the bottom being recessed to fit over a pivot stud 15 while the top is clutched to a vertically adjustable shaft 16. The rudders are operated from the drums 24, 30 respectively by the guided endless bands 20, 26.
