Abstract

1,073,260. Electromagnetic brakes. MORAVOLEN, NARODNI PODNIK. Sept. 20, 1965 [Sept. 26, 1964], No. 40014/65. Heading F2E. [Also in Division H3] An electromagnetic brake winding 6, 7 is energized momentarily by the application of a voltage which is a multiple of the normal working voltage through a circuit which includes two thyristors 8, 10, a condenser 9, and triggering devices across the thyristors comprising resistors 13, 15 and contactors 14, 16. In operation, a machine, e.g. a loom, to be stopped quickly in the event of a fault developing, includes means responsive to starting up. of the machine for energizing contactor 16, whereupon the thyristor 10, so connected relative to the high-voltage D.C. supply 11 as to be non-conducting in the required direction when de-ionized, is ionized and conducts current to charge condenser 9. When the condenser is fully charged the thyristor 10 is automatically de-ionized and prevents further current flow. When a fault develops in the machine, the contactor 14 is arranged to be energized, which triggers the thyristor 8 in like manner, causing condenser 9 to discharge into the winding 6, 7, after which thyristor 8 is automatically de-ionized whereby the device is re-set.
