Abstract
1,073,141. Heating liquids in bulk; heat exchange elements. F. HOWARTH. March 17, 1965 [March 17, 1964], No. 11181/64. Heading F4S. Transversely finned heat exchanger tube coils are arranged in a tank of oil or other viscous liquid to be heated by said coils. the tubing being arranged so that the fins extend in substantially vertical planes and so that there is a continuous incline along the tube axis whereby the coils are self-draining. In use, the individual coils are " threaded " through a relatively small opening in the tank wall normally closed by a cover, and a plurality of the coils are connected to a ring main located within the tank (Figs. 1 and 4).
