Abstract

1,071,711. Tents. C. F. HUDDLE. June 3, 1964 [June 10, 1963; Aug. 29, 1963], No. 23079/64. Heading E1A. A portable building or tent, Fig. 1, suitable as a hospital, restaurant, theatre, workshop or for military or marine purposes comprises two arch members 30 which are pivoted to a common base 32 and held apart by a fabric 34 and columns or cables 36. The fabric may be a woven fabric, plastic film, plastic coated fabric or reinforced plaster film and is supported by a net and cable construction, see Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown). A counter 38 and a curtain or load-bearing wall 40 is provided as necessary. The spacing and angular set of the arches may be controlled by a double-acting jack 56, Fig. 6, having positional locking means 74 or by a screw-jack arrangement, see Fig. 8 (not shown). For modified arch details, various shapes of buildings including multi-storey and circular buildings &c. the specification and remaining drawings should be referred to.
