Apparatus for wrapping wire around a terminal comprises a spindle with an axial hole at one end to accommodate the terminal, guide means at said end having an elongated aperture to guide the wire to the terminal, cutting edges on the aperture serving to strip the insulation from the wire as the wrapping proceeds and wire-cutting means. Wire to be wrapped around a terminal positioned in an axial hole in a spindle 4a is laid in a peripheral aperture 7 in a disc 3 on the end of the spindle, through a slot 19 in a collar 15 on the spindle, and through aligned key-hole sectioned grooves 13, 14 in discs 10, 11, so that the wire extends at a slight inclination to the axis of the spindle. The aperture 7 is formed with cutting edges which serve to strip the insulation from the wire as it is wrapped on the terminal by rotation of the spindle. The aperture 7 may be of L-shaped section. The disc 10 is secured to the spindle and the disc 11 to a sleeve 12 held stationary so that, at the commencement of the wrapping, rotation of the disc 10 relative to the disc 11 severs the wire. A projection 9 on the front face of the disc 3 applies the end part of the wire to the terminal. The tool may be operated by means which automatically stops the rotation of the spindle after each operation so that the grooves 13, 14 are in alignment.
