Abstract

1,071,484. Theft alarms. R. L. PEARCE & PARTNERS (NORWOOD) Ltd. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 46166/63. Heading G4N. An alarm unit comprises a movable body 21 which normally retains an alarm actuating member 26 in a cocked position, such that any movement of the unit releases the alarm, and a rotary member 16 which inhibits the alarm in one position by holding the member 26 away from the body 21. The unit is incorporated into a jewel box, and any movement of the box displaces the resilient arm 27 from the body 21 allowing member 26 to rotate and close alarm contacts 30, 31. In order to inhibit the alarm a cam 17 is rotated by means of a key to engage member 26 and maintain the contacts 30, 31 open. The cam may be rotated by the key associated with a lock on the box. Instead of the alarm device 33 an electronic howler, a recorded message or a non-electric device may be employed.
