Abstract

1,071,153. Burner fuel systems. DRYSDALE & CO. Ltd. Dec. 19, 1963 [Jan. 1, 1963], No. 48259/62. Heading F4T. In a fuel supply system for spill burners associated with a boiler system, the outlet 4 of a centrifugal pump 1, connected to a fuel supply tank 3, is connected to the inlet of a positive displacement pump 5 the outlet of which is connected to the burner nozzles 7 which are connected, by way of a spill or recirculating valve 8, to the inlet of pump 1. Between tank 3 and pump 1 are a further positive displacement pump 9, an oil heater 10 and oil filter 11 connected to a pressure relief valve 12. Pump 1 is driven by a constant speed motor 14 which also drives pumps 5, 9 through bevel gearing 15. The quantity of fuel oil supplied to the burners is controlled by a proportional output reducer 16 or by a sequential valve control (17). In a modification variation in fuel supply to the burners is achieved by varying the speed of operation of pump 5 which is driven by a variable-speed motor or by variable gearing.
