Abstract

1,071,132. Laminates and laminating. CONTAINER CORPORATION OF AMERICA. July 14, 1964, No. 29022/64. Heading B5N. A multi-ply paperboard comprises two outer liners, two corrugated layers adhesively secured to the outer liners and a third liner between the two currugated layers, at least one of the corrugated layers being formed of two layers of paper adhesively connected in nested relationship. As shown, webs of paper 10 and 11 are drawn from rolls 20 and 21. Adhesive is applied to one of them at 22 and they are then brought into contact and passed together between corrugating rolls 23 and 23a. Adhesive is applied at 24 to the crests of the corrugations, and a liner 6 from roll 18 is applied. Another web 7 from roll 30 is corrugated between rolls 32 and 32a, adhesive is applied at 33 and a liner 8 at 34. Adhesive is then applied to the unlined sides of both compound webs at 42 and 43 and they are brought together and to another liner 5 from a roll 38 at 45. The whole is then passed through a drier 41. One or both of the outer liners may also comprise two paper layers stuck together. The two corrugated layers may have corrugations of different sizes.
