Abstract
Hexachlorocyclopentadiene is made by feeding gaseous cyclopentadiene and cl2 separately into a first reactor so as to mix rapidly with partially chlorinated cyclopentadiene therein, the gases being fed at a controlled rate to preserve isothermal conditions in the reactor, the exit gases from the latter being fed to a second reactor of extended from within which the temperature rises progressively to complete the reaction.
