Abstract

In the sintering of dolomite, magnesite and lime in a rotary kiln with addition of sintering aids, the major portion of the sintering aid, selected from the oxides, carbonates and silicates of Fe, Cr, Mn, Ti or Zr, is blown in from the outlet side and is in the form of a granulate in which the major proportion has a grain size of at least 0.2 mm. The sintering aids are preferably in the form of naturally occurring minerals or industrial waste products, e.g. red sludge.
