1,070,055. Web-stretching apparatus. G. BRœCKNER. May 5, 1965, No. 18862/65. Heading B5B. In a device for longitudinally stretching a web, the web 1 (Fig. 2, not shown) is preheated by roller 2, and brought to stretching temperature by heater 5 in the stretching zone. Adjacent to and after heating roller 2 are web transport means, e.g. rollers 6 and 7, which withhold the tension from the portion of web 1 lying on roller 2. The web passes from 6 and 7 to cooling roller 4 via rollers 8 and 9 which may provide the tensile force. Rollers 6 and 7 may have a flexible surface layer of rubber.
