Abstract

1,068,041. Valves. MIRRLEES NATIONAL Ltd. Jan. 3, 1964 [Jan. 5, 1963], No. 600/63. Heading F1B. In a liquid-cooled caged valve assembly in which part of the valve seating 16, Fig. 1 has tubular extensions 20, 21 forming part of the coolant circuit, gland sealing members 20a, 20b are located between the extensions and the valve cage away from the seating to prevent passage of coolant to the junction between the seating and the housing. In use coolant enters space 14 via duct 15 and passes via tube 20, space 19, tube 20 to outlet 25. In another embodiment an annular extension engages with an annular groove (32) Fig. 2 (not shown) in the housing 10. Concentric sealing rings (33), (33a) are located between the extension and the groove.
