Abstract

1,067,206. Spark erosion. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G., and ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRIGITATS - GESELLSCHAFT. April 27, 1965 [April 30, 1964], No. 17752/65. Heading B3V. In a spark erosion machine, the spark gap 2 is fed through an electronic switch 4, Fig. 4 (not shown), controlled by a timing device 5, and a feedback 9 is provided between the output of the switch and its control circuit. The switch is preferably a transistor 4 feeding a D.C. supply 1 to the gap 2 through a resistor 3. The transistor 4 is triggered by a pulse generator 5 acting through a control transistor 7 supplied from a second D.C. source 15. A feedback loop 9, including capacitor 10 and parallel resistor 11, is connected between the collector of transistor 4 and the base of control transistor 7. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), transistor 7 is of the NPN type. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the feedback is provided by an emitter resistance 16 common to the two transistors. A plurality of transistors connected in parallel may be used instead of a single power transistor. The control or power transistors or both may be replaced by one unijunction transistor.
