A trigger circuit arrangement for controlled rectifier electrical systems having a single junction transistor including an emitter electrode and two base and one base electrodes, and a supply voltage source, characterized in that it has coupled circuit means to said source to communicate a voltage at said emitter electrode, varying the magnitude of the voltage linearly communicated with the phase angle of said source voltage, and circuit means for communicating a signal voltage through said base electrodes one and base two, whereby said emitter and base one electrodes exhibit a relatively large impedance therebetween when the emitter voltage is below a constant fraction of the base-to-base voltage and wherefore said emitter and base electrodes one exhibit a relatively low impedance between them when the emitter voltage exceeds the same constant fraction of the base voltage to base.
