Abstract

1,066,860. Screw-sockets. A. FISCHER. Dec. 19, 1963, No. 50202/63. Heading F2H. A sleeve (3) with a longitudinal slot (3a), Fig. 3 (not shown), is used with a percussion tool to drill its own hole (4) in masonry (2) and then there is introduced a spreadable insert (5) having a longitudinal projection (6a), bearing teeth (6b) and engaging the slot (3a), so that, when a screw (1) is screwed into threads (6c) in the insert, the projection (6a) is moved out of the slot (3a) to grip the wall of the hole (4). The insert (5) has diametrically opposed slots and an inclined surface (6d) in its bore, behind the projection (6a), so that the screw causes most of one half of the insert to be spread outwardly, Fig. 6 (not shown). The surface of the insert (5) adjacent the toothed projection (6a) is tapered at either side of the latter, Fig. 2 (not shown), to reduce obstruction of the spreading by the edges of the sleeve slot (3a).
