Abstract

1,187,837. Wall plugs. O. W. THORSMAN. 21 Aug., 1967, No. 38364/67. Heading F2H. A plug 1 for mounting in a hole 5 in a panel 4 comprises a collar 7 having a hole 18, an adjustable bar 6 and a helical spring 8 which is fastened at each end to the collar and the bar respectively. A screw 2 passes through the collar and the spring to engage a semi-cylindrical sleeve 15 of the bar thereby biasing the bar so that its tongue portion 10 engages a groove between the sleeves 19, 21 of the collar. On inserting the sleeve 21 of the collar in the hole 5 and pressing the screw 2, the tongue is released from the collar and the bar rotates into a plane perpendicular to the screw. The withdrawl of the screw, which has a non-threaded end portion so that the screw does not engage a threaded hole 14 in the bar, allows the spring to draw the bar against the rear side of the panel 4. A further panel, &c. may then be secured to the panel 4, the screw 2 engaging the threaded hole 14 in the bar. Ribs 22 and projections 17 on the collar and the bar respectively prevent rotation of these members which may be formed of synthetic plastics, rubber or metal. The spring may be replaced by a rubber sleeve.
