Abstract

1,003,545. Anchor nuts; washers. ADAMS RITE MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 31, 1963 [April 8, 1963], No. 42997/63. Heading F2H. To receive a screw for mounting a lock in an opening 16, Fig. 8, of an extruded door stile having side walls 13, 14, a rigid washer A, Figs. 2, 3 and 8 and a bowed resilient nut B, Figs. 7, 8, are secured between the walls 13, 14 by pressing the ends 43, 44 of the nut with a tool, in the direction of the arrows 47, 48, so that the arcuate extremities 45, 46 of the nut bite into the walls 13, 14. A nut B and washer A may be mounted across each end of the stile opening 16, Fig. 1 (not shown). Legs 33, 34 are formed by the bent ends of the washer A and the leg 34 may have a toe at each end of its edge 38, forming a notch 37 which can receive one end 44 of the resilient nut B. The washer A may be reversed, so that the legs 33, 34 are directed away from the nut B, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown), and if the stile end wall 15 is oblique, the leg 38 has the toes so as to allow the washer to extend perpendicularly to the side walls 13, 14.
