Abstract

Bulkhead doors. - Relates to water-tight doors for the bulkhead partitions of ships, submarine vessels, &c. to allow the escape of persons from one compartment to another. A chamber 3 is formed in the bulkhead, or between two spaced bulkheads, and is fitted with two opposite sliding doors 6, 6x operated by hydraulic, steam, or pneumatic cylinders 13, 13<x>, or by electric power, controlled by mechanism, such as levers 24, 24<x>, 25 from within, or external to, the chamber so that one door only can be opened at a time, the control apparatus of either door being locked when the opposite door is open.
