Abstract

The novel compounds diacetoxy-dinitrato-1 4-dinitropiperazine and tetra-acetoxy-1,4 are prepared by reacting an alkali metal salt of 2,3,5,6-tetrahydroxy piperazinedisulphonic acid with a nitrating mixture of nitric acid and acetic anhydride, the amount of each product depending on the reaction temperature, a temperature of about 30 DEG C. being suitable for production of the former compound, and -10 DEG to +5 DEG C. for the production of the latter compound.
