Abstract

1,065,364. Change-speed gear control. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. June 16, 1965, No. 25381/65. Heading F2D. A motor-vehicle manual gear-shift mechanism comprises a selector shaft 7 actuated by the usual gear lever 6 and rotated to bring a projection 7a into register with any one of three recesses 1c, 2c or 3c of striker forks 1, 2 and 3 slidable on a common rail 4, the selector shaft 7 then being slid axially to move the selected striker to establish the gear, the non-selected strikers being locked in their neutral positions by projections 8a, 8b, engaged in the recesses of these strikers (Fig. 2, not shown), and formed on a sleeve 8 which rotates with the shaft 7 but is fixed axially by a stop 9 mounted on the inside of the surrounding casing 5.
