Abstract

Compounds of formula I <FORM:1065306/C2/1> and their non-toxic acid addition salts, wherein X is O or S and R is o-phenylene, 1,2-, 2,3-, or 1,8-naphthylene, are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II <FORM:1065306/C2/2> wherein Y is NH2 or sulphonyl ester, with a compound able to convert Y into or replace Y by a guanidino group. 2 - [41 - (b - Aminoethyl) - piperazinyl - 11]-methyl - 5,6 - benzo - 1,4 - dioxane is prepared from 2 - hydroxymethyl - 5,6 - benzo - 1,4-dioxane through 2 - methanesulphonoxymethyl-5,6 - benzo - 1,4 - dioxane, 2 - piperazino-methyl - 5,6 - benzo - 1,4 - dioxane, and 2 - [41-(b - phthalimidoethyl) - piperazinyl - 11] - methyl-5,6 - benzo - 1,4 - dioxane. 2 - [41 - (b - Amino-ethyl) - piperazinyl - 11] - methyl - 5,6 - benzo-1,4-oxathiane is also prepared. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the compounds of the invention and a carrier.
