Abstract

1284582 Pyrazinopyrimidine derivatives COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH 10 Nov 1969 54966/69 Heading C2C Novel compounds I and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts in which R 1 and R 2 are 1-6C alkyl, are prepared by reaction of compounds II: with compounds III: to form compounds IV: which are then reacted to cleave the benzyloxycarbonyl group and give compounds V: which compounds are then reacted with P 2 O 5 to give compounds VI: which compounds VI are reacted with R 1 NH 2 to give compounds VII which compounds VII are then reduced to compounds VIII: which compounds are then reacted with ClCOOC 2 H 5 to give the N-ethoxycarbonyl derivatives IX which compounds are cyclized by treatment with alkali metal alkoxide to give compounds I. Compounds II to IX are isolated as intermediates. Pharmaceutical compositions for oral, rectal or parenteral administration as antifilarial agents contain a compound I or an acid addition or quaternary ammonium pharmacentically acceptable salt thereof and a suitable excipient.
