Abstract

The bottom apron of drafting-apparatus is tensioned by a guide-member carried by a member projecting downwardly from the nose-bar or bridge and which is resiliently urged against the apron and draws it towards the upper face of the bar or bridge. In Fig. 1 (not shown), a resilient member (11) is looped over the nose-bar (10) to contact the apron at (11\sv), and is secured by a set-screw (14) with or without a clamping-member. In other forms, the member (11) has a rearward extension and an upwardly-projecting rib or nipple, the better to control the fibres; it may be attached by the engagement of an end in a slot or notch in the downward member and it may have integral guiding lugs (12) or be looped around or otherwise connected to a bar having guide lugs. In Fig. 11, (not shown) the nose-bar is common to a number of aprons and has a downward web (37) ending in a head (38) constituting a pivot for a member (36) for each apron, a spring (41) and a locating-lug being provided.
