Abstract

1,063,353. Boots &c. NORTHERN RHODESIA TYRE SERVICES Ltd. March 16, 1965, No. 11103/65. Heading A3B. [Also in Division B5] A reinforced boot is made by the following steps:- a) covering an inflatable core 12 with a rubber impregnated or rubber covered fabric stocking 1; b) applying a metal toe cap 6, covered by a fabric cup 7 and sandwiched at its rear edge between rubber strips 4 and 5, to the covered core; c) applying side rubber pieces 2, 3 to the core and folding the lower ends thereof over the sole area of the core; d) covering the folded ends of the pieces 2 and 3 with a metal sole piece 10 sandwiched between rubber sole pieces 8 and 9 and an outer pre-formed sole and heel unit 11; and finally enclosing the whole within a split mould and expanding the core with a hot fluid to compress and vulcanize and fuse the rubber pieces to form the finished boot.
