Abstract

Compositions comprise (1) a vinyl chloride polymer containing at least 80 weight per cent of polymerized vinyl chloride, the remainder if any being at least one polymerized monoethylenically unsaturated comonomer, (2) 0.1 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts of (1) of a chlorinated polyolefin and (3) 0.1 to 3 parts by weight per 100 parts of (1) of a polyolefin wax of molecular weight 300 to 15,000. The polymer (1) may be polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate or stearate, dichlorethylenes, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile or esters of acrylic, methacrylic, maleic or fumaric acid. (2) may be a chlorinated polymer of ethylene, propylene, butene or isobutylene. (3) is preferably a polyethylene wax. The compositions may also contain impact strength modifiers, e.g. graft copolymers of styrene/acrylonitrile or styrene/isobutylene/acrylonitrile on polybutadiene, and acrylic polymers; pigments and stabilizers, e.g. alkyl tin mercaptides; and may be extruded to form pipes or blowmoulded to form bottles. Examples describe compositions comprising polyvinyl chloride of one or more grades, chlorinated polyethylene, polyethylene wax, dialkyl tin mercaptide and (1-7) a styrene/acrylonitrile graft copolymer on polybutadiene or (1) a thermoplastic acrylic polymer.
