Abstract

1,062,990. Bottling &c. CHRISTIAN BERNER A.B. March 2, 1966 [April 14, 1965], No. 9121/66. Heading B8T. A revolving-table bottling machine, having a supply tank 3 and filling valves 5 which rotate about a shaft 2, is cleansed by placing upon the usual bottle-supporting rotary table 4 two &c. part-cylindrical troughs 15, 16 having horizontal partitions 18 with holes 19 into which the stems 7 of the filling valves pass, when the tank &c. is lowered towards the troughs to open the valves. A pump 12 is then operated to draw cleaning liquid from a tank 11 and pass it through a pipe 13, a two-way valve 14, a pipe 21, the trough 15, the alreadyopened filling valves 5 in this trough, and into the supply tank 3; thence the cleaning liquid flows out through the other already-opened filling valves 5 into the second trough 16, and through a pipe 17, the valve 14, a return pipe 22, and back into the tank 11. The two-way valve 14 may be turned to reverse the flow of cleaning liquid, which now enters the trough 16 first, and flows back to the tank 11 through the trough 15. The two-way valve 14 may be controlled automatically by a time relay. The outsides of the valves 5 may be cleansed by raising the table slightly, thus closing the valves, and then filling the troughs 15, 16 to the brim. A pipe connected to the pump 12 may be used for flushing the supply tank 3.
