Abstract

<PICT:1062346/C1/1> Liquid to be deionized is fed with a suitable quantity of surfactant, added if necessary to pipes 2 or 11, and a partially deionized product is withdrawn for a similar treatment by pipe 4. In vessel 6 the liquid treated in vessel 1 is foamed by gas injected by filter 10 and the treated liquid is withdrawn at 9. The foam is passed upwardly through pipe 8 to treat liquid in vessel 1 and the foam containing the ions is removed at line 3. Fig. 2 (not shown) relates to a multi-stage tower process.
