Abstract
1,062,341. Stamping and bending dies. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. Jan. 7, 1966 [Jan. 11, 1965], No. 1099/65. Headings B3E and B3Q. A die block for a sheet metal embossing or bending press includes within a die box PB a counter pressure member CP of elastomeric material, at least one part MPB having a cellular structure. The various parts of the member CP are of a shape, disposition, and hardness to suit the shape of a co-operating die D, all the parts being of polyurethane. The part MPB is of microporous polyurethane with a density of 0À25-1 gm./c.c. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) flat layers of solid polyurethane are interspersed with cellular layers, the solid layers thus being able to deform and move laterally under loading. The parts can either be assembled in the die box or can be formed as a composite moulding.
