Abstract
1,061,353. Couplings. FICHTEL SACHS A.G. May 10, 1965 [May 12, 1964], No. 19575/65. Headings F2C and F2U. The impeller 1 of a hydrodynamic torque converter is connected to a driving flywheel 7 by a flexible plate 5. The plate 5 is cup-shaped in order to reduce the axial length of the assembly as compared with a radial plate as the bolts 9 securing the plate to the driving housing of the converter are radially instead of axially disposed. The plate may be slotted over its radial portion to increase its axial flexibility and the slots may accommodate reinforcing ribs formed on the converter housing. A clutch connecting the turbine to the output shaft (Fig. 3, not shown) may be accommodated between the converter casing and the back of the turbine.
